Meet Dr. Kutina

I am a proud 3rd generation dentist who loves the dental field and all the opportunities it provides. I appreciate being able to offer the highest quality dental care to my patients, while establishing long-term relationships based on mutual trust, respect, and communication.

In the more than 30 years I have been in practice, I have developed relationships spanning multiple generations of families. Getting to know each person’s story, and sharing in their life through the years, is both a privilege and deeply fulfilling.

My days are spent helping my hometown community. Whether providing a fun first visit for a child, brightening their parent’s smile, or relieving pain and restoring health and function for a grandparent, I am positively impacting their life.

I cannot imagine a more rewarding career!

Education and Experience

I have practiced dentistry for over 30 years. Choosing the dental field was natural for me: I wanted to continue the family dental legacy; I was drawn to healthcare and a nice smile has always caught my attention; I wanted to be in a position to help people be pain-free and more confident in their smiles; and I wanted to promote oral health.

After growing up in Great Bend, I attended Kansas State University for my Bachelor of Science. From there, I attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City Dental School for my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). In 1989, after dental school was complete, I returned to Great Bend and joined the family practice.

One of the reasons I chose general dentistry, as opposed to specializing, is the diversity of people I see, spend time with, and treat on a daily basis. At the same, general dentistry means I get to perform a wide range of procedures, which keeps me engaged and excited in my career.

Continuing Education and Professional Affiliations

Over the years I have witnessed incredible advancements in dentistry. We now have numerous technological innovations, state-of-the-art materials, and leading-edge methodologies that, in many ways, have thoroughly changed how we approach oral healthcare.

As I have throughout my career, I continue my professional education to stay informed of the latest developments in techniques, materials, and technology. By constantly advancing my knowledge and skills, I am able to offer the most modern, proven dental care to my patients.

I regularly take courses through Spear Education, Spear Education Faculty Club, Spear Practice Solutions, and CEREC® Doctors. Additionally, I am a member of the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, and Kansas Central District. Through these organizations I have access to a range of meetings, lectures, seminars, and peer-reviewed journals, which keep me abreast of the latest research, emerging trends, and new options.

Beyond the Office

I’m proud to have lived my life here in Great Bend, but for my years in dental school. Anne, my wife, and I have been married for 35 years and have two children. Andrew, our oldest, is a 4th generation dentist in Manhattan, Kansas, and our daughter, Elizabeth, is in her second year of dental school. I have a dog, Finley, who is a very spoiled German Shorthaired Pointer, too.

If I’m not at the office, I’m usually found outdoors: on the golf course, on my boat at the lake, or, during hunting season, with Finley as we’re searching for a covey of quail.

I also make time to give back to our community. I participate in the Kansas Mission of Mercy dental mission every year, along with the Donated Dental Service program which provides dental care for the underprivileged. I’m a Eucharistic minister in my church, as well.
